Module 2: Saturday, August 3rd, - Friday, August 9th, 2019

Module 2, Kramas 7-12 begins with the dynamically standing postures in the Trikonanasana krama and takes you through to the preparations for the potent Lotus posture that ensures abundant energy flow to facilitate Pranayama practices, chanting and meditation. Kramas 1-6 and the foundational teaching from Module 1 will be reviewed and applied to kramas 7-12.

The asanas with their sub sets will be be surveyed along with the methods of superimposing the synchronized Ujjayi breath. We will continue to look at the effects on the internal organs and the alignment as it is created through proper flow of the Ujjayi breath. Interactive and informative student discussion is dispersed through out the daily training. You may join Module 2 even if you did not complete Module 2, there is no need to be proficient in yoga asana, stiffness and injury are OK

Module 2, is a more contemplative study as it brings us to the detailed investigation in which Pranayama techniques, vibrational sounds, and meditation will be experienced

Module 1, testimonial;

Participating In Module 1 changed everything I know about yoga!

Much of what we is called Yoga in today’s western world is little more than a high fashion workout, with loud music and a minimally trained instructor, with no connection to the origins or intentions of the practice.

Krishnamacharya stated, you can’t learn this from a book, you can only learn it from a teacher. Some materials published on the original Himalayan techniques are incorrect and incomplete. Problem is, I don’t now what I don’t know. And very few teachers have the skill and the willingness to teach it, so it is not widely taught.

I’m very grateful for this opportunity to study with Pam. We explored the fascinating history and commentary from many great minds and original sources, and practiced original sequences as documented by Ramaswami, where every breath has a movement and every movement has a breath. We practiced a variety Pranayama techniques in our daily practice. Pam is an encyclopedia of knowledge.

Practicing this material in an immersion setting is physically challenging for a week, but it really can’t be done any other way. It can’t be done in a weekly class. You need to see the progression and take the time each day to practice the material as it would be practiced. It takes time. But I had this sudden flash of insight, an Aha! Moment: I now understand where everything I have learned comes from, and how and why what I was taught was modified for me and my individual body. What I have been taught previously with another instructor is rooted in the classic but changed to make it accessible for me in my unique physical state.

Another unexpected benefit of the immersion training is the creation of community. Here a small group of committed students got the chance to build connections and share insights as we explored together and built upon each other’s curiosities and experiences.

It was a very rich and rewarding experience, and I’m really looking forward to the second section.

A Resonating Art and Science
The Slow Dance of Breath and Movement

We will meticulously comb through the art of vinyasa (yoga asana) as laid out through Krishnamacharya’s coherent narrative arc in which the geometric forms are organized around the distribution of prana into the sinuous musculature of the body and more importantly throughout the internal organs.

All 12 kramas containing varied asanas with their subsets and counter poses will be surveyed along with the method of superimposing the synchronized Ujjayi breath. We will look at the effects on the internal organs and the alignment as it is created through proper flow of the Ujjayi breath and determine how to thread the appropriate vinyasas and their applications together for personal or student needs.

With consistent curiosity and examination of the methodology and the auxiliary practices of breath-centered postures, breath retention, various seals, mudras and mantras, you will begin to penetrate the subtle layers that permeate our intellect, personality and emotions by dwelling in the space between your inhale and your exhale.

Our goal is to preserve and conserve this yoga asana tradition and to further understand the theories, evolution, and experiential concepts of pranic energy and how we can best convey this notion and its place into today’s world.

Only if we feel that something is precious will we take it seriously and do it with a positive attitude.

The breath was and is my teacher
The breath is what I am
The breath is what you are
It has infinite wisdom
And is the wisest and deepest teaching in existence.

Pranayama brings you to the doorway of mediation.

The breath is physical, physic, and spiritual.  Ancient wisdom calls upon the breath to move the spirit!  Through Breath, you slow the heart rate, calm the nervous system, & quiet the mind.

Life is a series of breaths.  All functions depend on the act of breathing. Imperfect assimilation of the breath is an undernourished body.

Pranayama is a seated practice.  This Life Breath to Meditation Workshop will begin with purification cleanses, followed by particular fundamental pranayama practices that nourish the vital organs and quiet the mind.

A kind of grace will ensue through stillness and pregnant pauses between the inhale and exhale, the vibration of sound and the energetic after effect of these guided practices will create a kind of grace that returns us to the essence of our being. That space where we can choose from freedom and not from habit, seducing you into the farthest reaches of your universe.
